OK - I'm trying to join this yahoo group, but they require authorization. Sent my request on Tuesday, and still no response.
Are the moderators dead?
Is anyone here on this group? Can you alert the moderators so I can at least get a response either way?

There are no moderators for this group. We are an open newsgroup on Newsnet. The moderators belong to your software or ISP. So I am afraid we cannot alert the moderators. Maybe if you will tell us what software you are using, and what your ISP is, someone will be able to help you. HTH.

It would depend how often the moderator checks messages to see if there are new people wanting to join. I check the rctnp one twice a day in order to not make someone wait too long, but others mileage may vary.

I think the OP was referring to the "HoosierStitchers" group, not r.c.t.n. In other words, she's hoping that someone on r.c.t.n knows something about or can contact the moderators of HoosierStitchers so she can get approved for participation in that group.
Best wishes, Ericka

Thank you, Ericka - I did say in my post "yahoo group"- maybe he thought I was referring to RCTN as a bunch of yahoos? In guess I should have worded it "hoosierstitchers group on yahoo"
They do have some email posted on their page - but they are probably the same emails that the request goes to - and if the moderator hasn't checked...
I was hoping someone here was a member of that group, and could post a hint to that group that new members were wanting to join, so could the moderator(s) please check their messages?????

Two other things - but I'm not Ericka - some groups are 'dead' groups because the moderator vanished without handing over to someone else, then it just freezes. Though I seem to remember reading yahoo was going to purge a whole bunch of those at the end August.
I fell heir to rctnp when the girl who set it up had a baby and just could not spread herself so thin :)

I talked to someone last week (Friday) at my LNS who was a member - as are the owners of my LNS.

True. I belong to a couple of groups where the owner no longer participates, and the e-ddress listed for her simply bounces back as No Such Address.
The good news is, membership isn't moderated, so we get new members. The bad news is, the spammers have a field day because their messages aren't rejected and their membership isn't revoked.

You should be approved now. Yahoo didn't send the list mom an e-mail about your subscription request.

Ah, yes - the Yahoo yahoos :)
But I was a member by the time I woke this morning! Thanks!
