I can't find pearl cotton size 3 in the color I want to use for a project. If I substitute embroidery floss how many strands do I need to use. TIA

I would guess 8 strands. I found a site that said 2 strands for #12, 4 for #8, 6 for #5. Artfabrik.com/a-guess-on-thread-sizes
I would try 8 strands; #3 PC is pretty thick. Make sure you stripe and moisten your cut length; that will "puff up" the strand. mb (Go Gators!)
