I am back, just a little worse for the wear

Hello, I am a long time lurker and sometimes poster here in R.C.T.N. I'veactually been reading for several years. I moved back to Illinois fromVirginia in June, on Sept 15th we had a house fire. They have decidedto total the house and build us a new one. But we lost our beloved 5year old cat, Alex. We have had him and his sister Nicki from the timethey were born. He died from smoke inhalation. She was left in shockand with second and third degree burns on three of her paws. We spenttwo weeks in a hotel and have now moved into temporary housing toawait the re-building of our home. We have lost every thing but likemy Husband says " it's just stuff and it can be replaced. At least wehave each other and at least one of the cats. " We were not in thehouse when it burned thank Goodness but our cats were I can onlyimagine what Nicki must have gone through. She is much better now herfeet have healed and she only has a barely noticeable limp. My Stash is also gone, floss, charts, half finished projects, myonce beautiful work basket with tools from my Grandmother in it all mylittle stork scissors and all my little gadgets I have collected sincethe 70s when I started to stitch. Also a big box of cross stitchmagazines many of them British. Since I do love them so much withtheir large pictures and color charts. I guess my question is this. "Where do I start to rebuild my stash? Do I buy floss, or books or kitsor tools first? The insurance guy had no idea what all my stuff wasworth and he wrote if off with a check for $75 Dollars. What a joke The worst part is the fact that just a week before. We were movingour belongings out of a storage place to our house and my box ofChristmas ornaments fell off the back of the truck. I pulled off theroad but right behind me were several huge grain trucks and I had tostand there and watch them run over memories from the very firstChristmas I spent on my own. By the time they went by and I couldgather the bits and pieces I had only 6 that...

I am so touched with your situation. Losing your beloved cat as well as the house you loved is just so sad. I will be sending you some items that I think you will enjoy.
