Thanks Deb for this kind advice. The book is not available on amazon.com but can be found on amazon.ca and amazon.fr. Lacis in CA sells it as well. We know that 1500 of them have been sold within the 4 first months, and we are waiting for the recent results. Framboise, I enjoyed looking through your very interesting site. The work is beautiful. I think it would be well worth it to have an English version of your Souvenirs brodés du Taj Mahal. If the French version is selling well on Amazon and wherever else you have it, then surely the English version would, too. You should consider approaching publishers in the US who already handle similar books, citing your sales results with the French version. I am sure it would be accepted. Deb :)

Great ideas! Framboise still have ready for shows - or for a book maybe - a series of embroideries inspired by designs from Provence, especially from people trading linen sheets and tissues in the 19th century. Traditional embroderies from Brittany (which we are from...) is a good source of inspiration as well, but very often published. However they are close to Irish ones as Brittany is a Celtic country too... Lacis still sells the book in French, but we never asked them. I am wondering if they publish or sell only. We can try. Hi Donna We don't know yet. I work here at UVA for 4 months now, and it could be for a while. I knew this city for about ten years, but it is the first long stay I have here. You are absolutely right! C'ville is beautiful. I feel really well here, either at UVA, downtown or just around. I hope Framboise will enjoy it too. Herve

I already have a list of publishers contacts, but asking UVA fellows can help! And the libraries at UVA seem to have a huge documentation! Unfortunately, the Art departement has no needlework classes or craft history teaching or whatever. Herve on behalf Framboise

Thanks for answering. I know I'm looking forward to some opportunity to meet up when you come up to the DC area, or we go to Charlottesville. And practice my strangely accented French (lived in Quercy, near the Dordogne - so have that very not Parisian accent). Brittany is lovely - got to travel there a bit, of course.

Framboise will be even more skilled after all those classes at l'Ecole. It's very possible that the owner where I'm working would be interested in doing a showvase with her, or some special event. We have a lot of European designs in the shop - from France, Germany, Netherlands, Italy & the UK. I'll mail to you separately, or you can send me something, and we can discuss some possibilities.

When I first was working in France, I actually got a dictionary of English-French Idioms. It was very helpful - even though I think it was British English, still, it helped quite a bit with everyday conversation - not our little acronyms, but, still... I know there are some out there. Just a thought.
