Last stash-y gifting question

Cheryl, I was wondering about why you think Amazon has a spotty rep. I use them a lot and not for not for book purchases, and everything has arrived quickly as described. I've ordered everything from DVDs to pots and pans with no issues. Some things even arrive overnight even using free shipping, they have a wharehouse in Nashua.

I can say the same thing about Overstock, but I only have purchased jewlery and sheets from them. Quick service, and items exactly as described.

My sister is the one having issues - several times she's ordered books that were supposedly available and then received notice the book was coming from the publisher and would arrive in 6-8 weeks and in two cases never arrived and the order cancelled by Amazon due to "item no longer available". While she wasn't charged for the books, she had figure out new gifts at the last minute. (Like Xmas Eve)

As I said to Elizabeth - now it is down to where we all find what we want....

I think about how I know them, what they tend to like to stitch, what they seem to admire - but maybe don't do. What's their skill/experience level. What could they use but won't splurge on. Mostly - what just strikes me as something they'd love.

I tend to see something and think of a person - so will grab it for them. It depends - if it's giving someone the opportunity to expand their stitching (like getting the mean, selfish SIL to work on other than Aida- cause I know she wants to), I'll kit something up. In that case, there was a perfect piece, that came with silk - I put in linen, and changed it to cotton floss (I didn't quite want to splurge on the silk for her, and for a first piece on linen, well not to do it all at once). Another time, we got her a beautiful etui - which I thought she'd display, and use. I don't really like to do the finishing supplies, though if it's a little thing - might send a tiny frame or the like.

Good questions - are you just curious or taking on a role as Ms. Santa?

A little bit of both - wondering how to expand my gift giving and how other people give stitching gifts.
