Source for candlewicking floss

I'm working away at a pillow top that has candlewicking floss as a major component. What was supplied feels terrible on/in my hands as well as feeling, well, chintzy.

Anyone got a reasonable source for candewicking supplies?

I have no idea where to get new candlewicking floss, but I've got about 5 balls of a dusty sage green candlewicking floss lying around here in my stash I was going to donate to the Goodwill. I've had it for years, but don't remember where I got it from. I picked it up to do some thread crochet but didn't use much of it because you're right, it doesn't have a good hand feel--kinda stiff. If anyone wants it, they're more than welcome to it!

I haven't done any candlewick in a long time but I remember the thread being kind of rough. I have a pillow somewhere in my stash that I think it's supposed to be done with regular floss. I would imagine if you used 6 strands, or maybe even 12 to be similar in weight, that would work nicely.

Now why didn't they turn up while I was googling for candlewicking supplies?

I just checked the site - and eventually found it. Now to figure out which is closest...

Wrong color for me but I'll bet it can't feel worse than this stuff.

If you want to be adventuresome and not a purist, cotton crochet yarns make great knots ;-)

I had thought about that too. I'm already thinking about changing out some, but not all of the knots with beads for a subtle bit of bling.

I need lots of what every I end up using because most of it is used to do really long sections of Twilling or Palestrina

I did a quick look on the Candamar site - it's not there. It is called Garden Harmony, a bunch of ladybugs and butterflies around a large dragonfly with vines and leaves with interlocked circles in the Palestrina stitch.

If I can get the scanner to do it's thing, I'll send you the image.
