LNSs (Gill Murray)

Gill, I've had two msgs bounce back, so I guess your computer doesn't like me. :-( Here's what I wrote re LNSs:

  • * * *

I'll have to remember to contact you when I'm traveling again! Other stores I've visited include Acorns & Threads in Portland, Strawberry Sampler and Fireside Stitchery in the Philly area. Because I think these are well-known LNSs, I didn't include them. But if you'd like more info, let me know.

Gillian, I have a couple to recommend in the Seattle area.

Cross Stitch Corner

138 - 105th Ave. NE Bellevue, WA 425-454-1862 Owner: Pat Nice selection of varied designs. Growing a nice selection of fibers. Decent selection of fabrics. General directions: I-405 West on 4th St exit Left on 108th Ave. Right on 2nd St. Left into driveway at Boyd's Clocks sign. Shop located about half-way along lower portion of strip.

Threadneedle Street

485 Front Street N Issaquah, WA 425-391-0528 Owner: Denise Combo NP and XS. Nice selection of samplers, Silver Lining, Mirabilia, Shepherd's Bush, less common designers. Good selection of fibers, fabric, and embellishments. General directions: I-90 West Front Street exit Right onto Front Street Through major intersection w/Gilman Located in gray building on right-hand side of street, past Darigold Dairy.

And I finally found a shop in San Diego: The Needlecraft Cottage

870 Grand Avenue San Diego (Pacific Beach), CA 858-272-8185 Owner: Liz The store is a combo XS, NP, and knitting, so there's some of everything. I've only been once, so can't give a major report, nor can I provide directions. It was pretty easy to get to, though.

Have fun with your travels.

DIRECTIONS: Head west on I-8 till you hit water. Turn right until you hit Grand. Obviously, since there's an ocean on your left, there's only one way you can turn onto Grand. :)

I am sad to report that Cross Stitch Corner in Bellevue, WA that Helen mentioned is closing at the end of May.

ThreadNeedle Street in Issaquah is well worth the trip. Denise is very helpful and has a wonderful selection.

Marianne (in cold, wet, gray Issaquah, WA--At least we have ThreadNeedle St!)

I had to go call Pat immediately when I read this. So sad to see another shop closing (this makes #3 that I know of in less than a year's time).

Thanks Helen, Karen and Marianne for all the info.

Anyone else who wants to add to my list of LNSs, or wants a copy of what I have done so far can email me.

Gillian did Sharon give you the LNS in Moncton ~ Because You Count ? I would like to add Classic Hobbies in Middleton, Nova Scotia, absolutely easy to find, very small country town.

Nope; the only one I have for NB is in Shediac; I went to one in St John, also, but can't remember the address. I could drive there if I had to, though!

Clssic Hobbies is duly listed. Did the new one in Halifax survive, or did it go under? It was just newly opened when I went there, and didn't have a very big stock.

No, it's gone, I assume you meant the one down on the waterfront. There is another one, been here quite a long time, but it is only a very small part of the operation and I gather, not really worth the trip. Classic Hobbies has a loooot of stuff, all crammed in. Takes a good hour to sift through things you might be interested in. Great collection of beads too.

Makes you think though. Middleton is a small, sleepy country town and here in the big metropolis of Halifax/Dartmouth we don't really have an LNS, we have to take a three hour drive to Middleton. Fortunately she is very good at mailing stuff out if you 'phone her.

Sorry, I didn't see your post before I mentioned to Cheryl she is very good about mailing stuff out. I can just see her winding the spool off, good old NS thriftiness lol

Because You Count

164 Collishaw Street Moncton, New Brunswick E1C 9R3 (Canada)

Phone - 506-856-8282 Fax - 506-855-2521 Email - snipped-for-privacy@nbnet.nb.ca (pls correct previous email addy)

Great girls - excellent service in person or mail order.

Sharon (N.B.)

PS - Barbara Ann's in Riverview closed down due to her husband's health. So Becuz is the only show in town - we have a Michael's but blah - not worth mentioning when it comes to needlework stuff.

Now, that is what I call REAL service! I didn't know you just had skinny mailboxes. Does that mean if I mail a manila envelope with stuff in it (letter-post here), that would be comsidered a parcel?
