Shops in San Diego, CA

We are moving this summer to San Diego and was wondering if there are any shops that you would recommend.

John,

Yes, there are two shops that I know of. They are across the street from each other, or at least they were three years ago or so when I was down there. Only one was open, but it was a nice shop. They are Needlepoint of La Jolla and Needle Nook of La Jolla. Can't remember which is the one I went to, but I understand from others that they are both good shops.

Hope this helps.

City of San Diego or Greater San Diego County area?

I'll let Tamara give you directions to the "hidden" shop in her neighborhood.

Near the beach, there's one on Grand in Pacific Beach that has yarn and some XS, and two across the street from each other in La Jolla that are mostly NP, but have a nice selection of interesting fibers.

There's a XS shop in North County in Escondido.

My DDil Ayako and I managed to get to Cross-A-Stitch in San Diego. The shop is long and narrow with framing and fabric in the rear. Saw some wonderfully framed pieces. The person that does framing does it by appointment. There was a rack of OOP patterns and gently used patterns priced at discount. Seem to have most of the standard threads, but not some of the newer overdyes or silks. The owner was very helpful and looked up things we didn't find, but she could order them and was able to tell us if she couldn't get it. Stitch-A-Cross

There is also the following, but we did not get a chance to visit:

There's also this shop. It's in Garden Grove. Perhaps it can be a side trip to an excursion to Disneyland or Knott's Berry Farm.
