Am just finnishing a new fiberwork , this time completely xst. It isn`t very big, and was born after a visit to a Colleague`s studio and house + later in the day we went to see another Colleague`s studio. My host works in many mediums, from `conventional ` painting to very unusual paintings on most strange background. He also made some applique works , and even painted /added Details over old [inherited and flea market found] xst.
Our second host paints over dried sheep skins. As well around old xst pieces, he finds in markets.
I know some people are horrified by this , but both this artists paint `Stories`, in which the old [mostly discarded and dirty which they loving clean, before using andf imortalizing ] embroidered pieces, Are playing a role , by bringing their `images` into the other artwork .
When i came home after a long day [2 hours train travel each way] , i slept and dreamed about a tiny xst , reaction /answer to some of the Social /Artistic subjects we discussed. The work was Born like that!!! i sat down next morning and amongst other `duties`, started this work ,, i am almost done. I even had an immidiate name for it , which of course was also embroidered into the canvas .. mirjam
