Needlepoint question

I have started a needlepoint tallit case for my GS who has just turned 10. I allowed him to pick the design and it is done using DMC pearl cotton threads. Two of the threads are gold and silver mettalics. I was wondering if I should leave the mettalics till the end, or work them as I get to them. I started bottom right and am working continental stitch so that there will be good padding on the back. Other than working short lengths with the mettalics, are there any other things I should do to it to make it easier to work with?

I tend to stitch it in as I go, thinking this subjects it to less friction than working it between completed stitches--does this make sense???? Dawne

Makes perfect sense. I think the canvas is 12 count interlock and the threads are DMC pearl cotton. It's a kit I got from California Stichery. I think I will work it as I go and see how it looks.

I just finished a small piece using pearl cotton--it gives a lovely sheen to the work, I think you'll like it . Dawne
