New Screen Name

For purposes of clarity in posting and creating a new yahoo ID, I'm changing from Chemiker to Alex Corvinus/TheRavenKing. Derived from the Renaissance King of Hungary, Mattyas (Matthias) Corvinus (of the Raven). The reference is to a myth that he was, as a child, abducted or hidden in a forest to protect his life from aspirants to the throne, and his being alive was announced to the faithful by a raven, which brought a gold ring establishing his identity. Today the raven with a gold ring in its beak is still used as a symbol for him and his works. One of Hungary's largest publishers is Corvina Press (Corvina is latin for raven). Mattyas married Princess Beatrice of Naples in, IIRC, 1575, who, when she moved to BudaPest, brought with her an entourage of cooks, seamstresses and the like. She also brought was it thought to be a copy of the first written Italian cookbook. The marriage changed the culture of Hungary forever.

During his reign, Mattyas also established a policy of religious toleration in Hungary. A latin codex from 1600 is believed to contain the first written reference to Unitarianism as a formally organized religion, and there is a large Unitarian church in BudaPest that is centuries old.

Alex, proud to give credit to the man.
