off topic: mid -Atlantic stitchers and snow

I'll echo Dawne on this one. Just picked it up in the bookstore because it looked interesting and had an interesting blurb from Lisa See. I really enjoyed it.

I like Lisa See, and rocketed through Shanghai Girls. But I haven't read any of her mysteries. Have you---and what do you think??

I have read her mysteries and they're ok. I've enjoyed her "period" pieces much more especially "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan" which is the first of her books that I read. I did read the mysteries out of order so that might be why they didn't hit me. They are much more contemorary, set in present day China. I also read her memoir and story of her family "On Gold Mountain." It was also good and I can see where she's come up with story ideas.

Nancy...who has finished the latest shoveling, only 6 inches, but also shoveled a path to the bird feeders. Just 2 hours this time

LOL - I don't think this is exactly a big job. It's just me deciding on what "stitchy" phrase would suit the cover of the needlebook. I even asked DH to ponder....Of course, suggestions are welcome.

Not for Ellice's project, but just for pondering. I googled needle and quotes and found a couple of good'uns, each worthy of its own sampler:

It's always good to ponder. There are so many fabulous thoughts out there, thanks for sharing the poetry below. Me, I'm just trying to come up with something short and simple, as the piece is really about the stitches -so it's something suitable for a cover, as opposed to just initials, which are of course there.

How 'bout reworking "variety is the spice of life"

Stitches are the spice of designs .... or something like that. Might give you some other ideas, at least.

LOL! Although I think I'd like it better with an exclamation point! You could make a little face and have hair sticking out all over....use turkey work! :)
