How do you keep track of everything with 20 doors to contend with - I can't find things in my one door freezer.

(Sorry! couldn't resist)

To give you a fairly straight answer - our washer, dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator and freezer are all Maytag. The only reason I don't have a Maytag SM or pickup truck is because they don't make them. DH is something of a fanatic about believing that Maytags are well-made and reasonable to maintain. Ah me, if only Maytag would build a long-arm. I'd be the first one to own one. Polly

And they were made right here in Iowa, Polly. Well, most of them. Note the word...WERE. Maytag has been bought out by Whirlpool and the Maytag workforce has (or will) be slashed considerably. Rather a sad situation for such a well respected brand name. Do you have the Maytag cordless iron? KJ

As a matter of fact, DH has decided he'll buy a spare washing machine in case Maytag goes the way of IBM typewriters and Singer SMs. (I did mention that he is a believer.) No, I don't have a Maytag iron but I'm sure there's one in my future. Polly

Whirlpool has been making parts for Maytag for years and also for Kenmores, the Sears brand. Whirlpool is a much better company, product wise, than either of the other two I mentioned but I do know that those that like Maytag, it won't matter to them, they, just like me, are set in their ways. :) Have a great day.

One of the things that drives me crazy is a company that brags big time about their service or support programs. Several copier companies come to mind. If the dang machines were designed and/or built correctly, you wouldn't need an award winning service program! Hello!?

I love Maytag stuff too! The commercials that show their service people sitting at their desks and waiting for calls is tribute to how well their products are built.

here we had a wonderful ad: a guy bored out of his skull waiting for the phone to ring and the one time it does everyone looks at him like he did something really *bad* and it turns out to be his mother calling about dinner - and it pans out to show his name plate: customer complaints dept. (or something very similar)

I like Maytag products and have one of their fridges that is about 6 or 7 years old. Runs well but I have a complaint. The vegetable drawers fall apart when you lift the darn things. I can't figure out how they would do such a thing to their cusomers. They are ok for just regular use but when you pull the drawer out to clean it or get a lot of stuff out the front comes apart from the sides. Kind of a mean trick IMO. Mom had a bottom freezer in the early 60's and always swore she would get another if they made them. TAria

Over here I think bottom freezers are the norm (?). Couldn't say for sure as I have had my Frigidaire forever through at least 8 house moves and the only time it missed a beat was when the removalists dropped it three moves ago. Insurance put a new motor in it and it has been perfect ever since. It has only two tiny scratches on the side, and a small crack in the lining that has been sealed.

And it was not new when I got it. I am guessing it is well over twenty years old. I bought another fridge a few years ago during a particularly hot summer as I expected my dear old thing to die any day, but no - it just kept running smooth as silk.

Aahhhhh! They just don't make 'em like that anymore.
