completely OT: Restasis

Definitely OT, except that I'm in no mood to quilt when my eyes hurt. If any of you have personal experience with this, could you contact me off-list? It's been prescribed for me, but I've heard such awful things that I've been afraid to have it filled.

Surely the horror stories are from people getting it as an anti-cancer treatment, who will be taking hundreds of times more of it?

I use it not as often as I should, but have not had any problems except it makes my eyes burn about 5 minutes after using the drops. What is this about the eyelashes?? Inquiring minds want to know. Zimmy

Thought that was only with the prostaglandin-type drugs?

Hmmm. IMO sites like this need to be taken with a grain of salt - a REALLY BIG grain... :-) Instead of a review site, I prefer "reviewing" studies. Credible studies are done fairly & scientifically by unaffiliated groups using large numbers of people who *all* provide feedback, both good and bad, and provide more realistic numbers about what's really going on with a particular drug.

I've spoken with my own docs about this kind of thing at great length, and encourage others to talk with their own docs about it.

I'm sorry. Roberta was correct, it's Latisse that helps your eyelashes. I confused Brooke Shields' commercial with WonderWoman's.

Latisse is one of the names of a drug that was originally prescribed for glaucoma.

Of course, it can turn blue eyes brown, which I guess would be a drawback for it's cosmetic use.

My husband has had the benefit of longer eyelashes, due to his glaucoma drops. The ophthalmologist told us that women keep coming in asking for a prescription.

I don't get this current thing with long eyelashes. There are soooo many extending mascaras and tinted and shiny mascaras and false eyelashes and now prescription drugs for growing longer lashes. Gee, some of the women I see on tv have crazy-looking 'falsies' glued to their eyelids. It's gotten a bit silly..... ;-)

Howdy!

... hair coloring and thickeners & extensions, padded bras, 3" heels, tummy smoothers and butt enhancers, colored contact lenses, teeth whiteners & caps ... & it's not just women in this world of wonder... LOL
