Request, ignore it if you want

I wonder if it is possible to quit posting stuff like news of the weird and stupid online games here? I know we don't have a moderator and allow off-topic posts and that means all off topic posts. I like the stuff that has to do with people's lives. I don't like the stupid or weird stuff and as much as I try to mark them read, I click on them sometimes and then regret it. or someone posts after I have already marked them as read, and then it just pops up on my screen like it belongs there. That woman on the couch crap really grosses me out. I don't want to KNOW about it much less keep running in to it here. Rant over.

I tend to agree. I almost always mark those read and move on - I get too many of those in email as it is and I almost never have time to read them. It sure would be nice to see a decrease in that kind of thing. I am more interested in what's going on in the lives of people I know at least a little than in the endless supply of jokes and such. Once in a while is fine, but there seems to have been a huge jump in that kind of thing lately.

Then I guess I won't be able to post here at all. Apparently, spider webs a such gross people out... :-(

Spider webs can be beautiful and I fully expect an "art imitates life" from you someday. Tell me you haven't thought about it. :=)

Hey now...I said spider webs gross me out; I never said *posts* about spider webs gross me out :)

As a matter of fact, one of my favorite movie scenes of all time is from "Arachnophobia"; a guy walking in the jungle walks through a humongous web, gets totally wrapped up by the thing. I squirm every time I see it...and have still seen the movie about a dozen times :)

Cheers, Carla

LOL I haven't even read that thread because I am terribly afraid of spiders. I think the webs are gorgeous, but the spiders terrify me.

In fact, I already have, quite some time ago. I made a Halloween ornament with a seed bead "web" draped over it. It's a motif I plan to revisit at some point.

You would never be able to live in my apartment, then, because I let the eight-legged people have the run of the place. I'm the only person I know who goes into full guilt mode if I accidentally kill one. On the other hand, I have fewer other bugs.

Well, nice to meet you! I don't kill spiders either, in fact I don't kill a whole lot of anything just because of the guilt thing. I try to scoop critters in my hands and release them outside. If they're a little more gross than average I'll scoop them up with a tissue.

If they're a little *larger* than average, I call Rick. Lol!

I agree, Becki. I especially doesn't like the "take a look at this cute thing (without description)" posts.

I agree -- the spiderwebs thing was personal, Arondelle, not a game or news-of-the-werid. It was at your very own home.

I agree too. But trying to encourage usenet users to use this medium sparingly is like trying to herd cats. No offence meant to the cats. :-) My personal beef is with death announcements of celebs. I dont know why they cheese me but they do. Diana, adding her tuppence to the OMTP

I find nothing wrong with that subject line, Jalynne. ~~ Sooz

The spiderweb thing was about beauty and inspiration, as well as about your life. Of course it fits.
