I want to say goodbye...

After spending a week or so on this Usenet group I have decided it is time to leave. For a group on scrapbooking there is very little scrapbooking discussed. Too much off topic chit-chat for my taste.

I wish all of you the best.

Robert, I'm sorry to see you go. I think you will find that scrapbook conversation has sort of slacked off partly due to part of the group meeting at the barn at the end of this week. I know I have not been as involved with the newsgroup recently as far as scrapbook LO's and techniques because I have been spending quite a bit of time putting kits together to take with me. I knwo I will have lots to talk about next week - both LO's and techniques. I do intend to get my behind into gear and post the canvas project I did a few months ago at a class at the LSS. And I also have a few other projects to post as well.

BTW, I never did hear back from Klara about the transparency and paint. Does anyone know which way is best - print on top of the transparency and paint underneath or mirror print on the underneath and also paint under the print? I wondered if the paint would cause the print to bleed.

I don't read this group everyday because I don't take part in all the things that people here participate in. But.........I have learned alot here and I particularly like when others review things that I might be interested in buying. I know if I ask a scrap related question here it is very likely that someone will know the answer! Some use the OT in the subject line which will help to filter out off topic discussions.

Ahh Robert a month here is hardly enough time. We can get down to scrapbooking when specifics are mentioned. Some like to visit about other things too. Just ignore them and start some scrapbooking discussions of your own. We would all love to hear what you have to say and contribute.

PS. CTMH I believe is short for "Close to my Heart"

Scrapbooking and rubber stamping. I took a class from them years ago at a Scrapbook convention.

Hello Robert,

Sorry to hear you are leaving. I think you started posting about the same time as me. I must say I always liked reading your posts because you have a lot of answers to "technical" issues to do with scrapbooking. I have been reading this group for a few months before I started posting and I think there is generally a lot more scrapbook-related posts than during the last month.

M-C's been so busy lately with moving and such we have not had a challenge recently. Now that can get interesting! I think that is the best part about this group. I just love to see what everyone comes up with given about the same supplies and techniques. I think the "Stick to the Sketch" and the "Lunch Anyone - paperbag albums" were my favorite challenges. After participating in both I started using sketches quite a bit to help me with LO ideas, and the paperbag albums are just plian fun to make. Sandy

Hi Sandy - Klara did answer to your posting. You might have overlooked it. I'm including her answer for you at the end. Hope this helps.

Hello Sandy,

This is how I did my transparency journalling with the highlighted words:

I printed the the text on the top side of the transparency on a laser printer. Then I turned it upside down and painted single lines in acrylic paint (using a wide brush) behind the words that needed to be highlighted. This can be quite tricky because when you turn the transparency over, it is mirror image and the words can be difficult to identify. But if you highlight a wrong word by mistake, you can wipe the paint away quickly and start again. I found that using the acrylic paint works better if you don't overload the brush with the paint. Also, I would recommend leaving the paint dry overnight - if left only for a few hours, the paint could be dry on top but still be wet underneath and make a mess when turned over.

My husband actually came up with this technique - he is very good at working out the best way of doing fiddly things like this.

Maybe I will stick around for awhile longer and see what happens.

Robert,

I'm so sorry to hear you're going... have enjoyed your posts. I only read and post to the scrapbooking related posts (for the most part) and don't find the OT topics to deter anything, I just don't bother reading them. That's why we're supposed to tag OT and AD and the like so everyone can get exactly what they're looking for!

Take care, Melissa in Seattle

Glad to hear it... and if you'd like to see more on-topic discussion, what would you like to talk about? If you post some thread-starters I'm sure people will talk about them. Things have been very quiet on the group this month because of everyone getting ready for Summer and the Barn gettogether and so on...
