No snow here but storm force (F10) winds. All the schools and day care centres in Orkney have closed and this mornings ferry was cancelled.

You don't have to shovel that though !

Guess what Cheryl is having for lunch we are also to receive, currently it is a lovely day. I can see the sun rising over Dartmouth and Halifax and it is not unduly cold.

Yup - we're right behind you. Started overnight, and we're supposed to get about 25 cm (roughly 10 inches) with possible rain this afternoon. Farther north they are forecast to get up to 45 cm (about 18 inches).

Glad I don't have to go to work.

Glad we can oblige. It was gorgeous here, yesterday too. I walked to the post office and the bank, and browsed some of the stores, knowing that I would be house bound today. We even may get rain on top of the snow this afternoon.

The forecaster called it a "Texas Low". Ok - who's is Texas?

Yeppers, just out, it's at zero and was so beautiful. Went out for the same reasons you did yesterday because tomorrow will likely be an in day.

You must admit, it's wonderful to be retired when it snows through the night and you do not have to make a break for it lol Especially since down here it is usually nice all weekend and decides to snow or ice on Sunday night in time for Monday a.m.

I hope you did, one of my favourite birds.

Storms were so bad here they had to cancel last night's Mardi Gras parades. One will be on tonight (after three others!!) and the other is, I think, Sunday after three others. Oh well, living a block away from the parade route, I only go up to see them nowadays if the weather is fine enough to sit there in my little folding chair.

Here in Ottawa, we are receiving the first of an estimated foot of snow. It is the start of Winterlude this weekend; our winter festival. It goes on for the next three week-ends. So snow and cold weather are desirable. But the forecast for Tuesday is +12 C (51 F). I know this is warm, but it is bad news in Ottawa. We like temperatures to stay below freezing until March.

We got 11" of snow overnight here in Springfield, IL, and it's lovely! That's a lot of snow for Springfield, and schools and many businesses are closed today. However, it's 28 degrees with almost no wind at all, so it was very pleasant to get out with the ultimate push- toy for adults -- my snowthrower! I have a very long, narrow driveway, and after I clear that I head down the street and do the front walk for everybody on the block. I also have to clear some patio space in the back yard for the dog, who is crippled and has a difficult time in snow. Not much slows her down, but snow is a special challenge for her.

We have only had a coupleof centimetres of snow, but earlier this week had temperatures of -52C (with windchill). Today the thermometer soared to a balmy -25C, with only light winds. Dawne
