old embroideries fun

That's great, sometimes you can find real treasures which can be given a new lease of life.

It is nice to know that such treasured items fall into the loving hands of someone so caring and capable!!

Thank you Sibille , that was my intention to reuse all good parts ,,, it suits my feelings about recycling and it adds another color to my `pallette ` ,,, mirjam

cool, that happened to me once, I got a bag of my grandmother's stitching stuff. The most valuable piece (for me) is the paper she designed her initials on. I also got a bell pull from her summer house which will always remind me of her.

It's fun to look through old charts and magazines, and see the history and trends back then. What kind of shampoo did you use? Is there something I should be aware of there?

I always use Baby Shampoo , for everything i want to handle with care , mild water ,,lay it in the water don`t spout water over it ,,, when it cools , throw water out , take embroidery out , fill with mild water lay embroidery in water till cold ,,,, now make last bath in cold water while shaking the cloth a bit ,,,,, if it isn`t too big , dry by laying on the wall ceramic tiles , flatening it with your hands ,,, leave till it is dry ...it stays till it dries, mirjam e:

Not sticking onto the wall but throwing it at the wall to see if it sticks or not. It works but it is NOT recommended by the Hygiene Directorate nor the Health & Safety Executive!

I remember walking into a fellow grad student's apartment and thinking "oh gross" - there was a couple of years worth of pasta stuck to the wall behind the stove. No roaches though.

Funny - I had the same thought - when I was in college a girlfriend and I lived in a boarding house with 14 guys....the kitchen was simply horrifying! There was more than just pasta on the wall by the stove....we often ate out :) MelissaD

If only that was affordable then.
