Organizing a stitching retreat

Not sure how it happened but in talking to the owner of my LNS - I was asked to help organize a stitching retreat or stitch-in. Having always wanted to go to one but never having the chance - I am unsure what actually goes on at a retreat. Are there stitching related games? Do you just sit and stitch? Are there classes? Any help would be appreciated! Or maybe for those of you that are veterans of retreats what would you want added or changed to yours? Thanks, Denise

My EGA chapter has a 3 day weekend retreat annually. The cost includes all meals and class kits. For the past several years, it's been held at church-run 'camping' facility to keep the price down -- shared rooms and bathrooms, lots of good but plain food, meeting rooms with lots of tables and chairs. There's usually 3 classes taught by chapter members and studio time for which people must preregister. Each evening, everyone gets together to work on a quick project like creating and embellishing pin cushions. Don't forget goody bags and door prizes, solicited from near and far

Any of the above. Usually there is a great lounge area for people to set up to stitch to their heart's content. Depending on the place, some group meals. Some do short classes - maybe 90 minutes - to learn a new technique, or a project. Others have a few classes. Some, none. Often there is a little contest - maybe in a few stitching categories, and people vote - if there have been some prizes arranged. Moatly it's just an opportunity for stitchers to get away, hang out and get a lot of stitching done. Also - some have games, or raffles, and we've been known to indulge with wine and beer. It's just fun.
