OT: "Comfort Kits" for Victims

Hi Guys, Well, I delivered my carload of stuff to the local "help" group who has a collection center and was basically ignored whenever I tried to ask a question. I was REALLY pissed off and so went to the church that is closest to MOI to see if they were collecting stuff. Which they were, of course :-). Anyway, the church gave me a list of things to put into "Comfort Kits" for men, women and small children. All the stuff must fit into a

1 gallon zip lock and you write on the bag who the stuff is for. What they didn't specify was stuff for older kids or young teens -- I assume the older teens would use the same stuff as the adults. Now, I can figure out what to put into the kits (pretty much what is put in for the adults except for shaving stuff) except for one thing. How old are boys and girls -- IN GENERAL -- when they start to use deodorant? I'm old enough that I haven't a clue and DD is old enough that I can't remember when she started to need it -- LOL! Anyone out there with pre-teen or early teen kids who can help me out here??? Thanks & CiaoMeow >^;;^<

DS has been wearing deodorant since 12 - he needed too. And 10 year old girls might need it too. Trust me - I've been around plenty of late of both lately.

My ds (and now dd's) 5th grade teacher said on one of the first days of school that the kids should start using deodorant and she had some if they did not. I guarantee you it is needed - and in fourth grade as well!

Also, many minority children (particularly girls) hit puberty at a younger age and may need it as young as 8.

OIOW when our *hormones* become offensive :-). That whole puberty thing totally escaped me as being the time when kids start to need deodorant! OY -- it's been a looooong time -- LOLOL! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

HMMM -- looks like I will include a small container of deodorant in the kits -- along with funky hair "joooles" (as the SMDGD calls them) for the girls :-). Thanks bunches for the help & CiaoMeow >^;;^<

My friends who teach high school and junior high refer to puberty as 'hormone hell'. So you weren't far off. :)

This is true. My oldest (daughter) hit it at age 9 and my 5 year old daughter wears deodorant now, so I am guessing she'll be an early bloomer like her sister. Trust me, she really does need to wear it!

Okay, I don't have kids living with me, so the thought of young kids wearing deodorant would never have occured to me. That said, I know there are soaps and shampoo that target kids, are there deodorant on the market for younger kids, or do they usually use the adult scents? Hubby and I have a family in Mississippi we have "adopted" and I guess I have a new item to add to their care package! Lee Ann
