If Nathalie Forster is still reading rctn - STOP SENDING ME EMAILS TO JOIN YOUR FACEBOOK ! I despise facebook ! I am further incensed that you are sending them to my 'real' email address and hope it is not directing spam there.

I received a couple which were commercial. A friend had his trainer at his local gym on his Facebook friend page. The trainer spammed everybody on David's list. He (the trainer) has since been deleted from David's page.

I'm very careful about who gets to be my 'friend' and I don't use any of the third party applications (send flowers, play games, etc) since all your information goes to the third-part company, and you have no control over what or who they are.

Me too. I simply decline to join all these "social network" sites, they seem to leave a person open to all kinds of spam and other computing problems, not to mention the risk of identity theft

I e-mail my real friends who are far away, and I meet the local ones face to face.

I joined FaceBook a few months ago but soon abandoned it after receiving innumerable postings from people I barely knew in which they told me they had just scored umpteen points playing various on-line game which I'd never heard of.

Don't you remember her as Natalie the gnat?? Ithink she is a quasi- designer from Maidenhed in England. Now my memory isn't that good, and this goes back 10 years or so. IIRC she was friend of karen C.

I just ignore the invitation...eventully it goes onto hibernation, fo a few more months.

Reading ! Your memory is correct.

Well after all the talk in the papers last week about FB and the liabilities as regards spam, phishing and god knows what, plus the fact that all these teens do not understand how far their posts go and that when they cancel FB it is not really cancelled, its just sitting there unseen, forever in the ether, I do not appreciate these invites.

Well thank you for that hint! I knew I could block applications from showing up. I will use it wisely.

I've been having a blast reconnecting with HS friends though I have connected with EXACTLY one college chum. And swear she's one of those trying for the most friends on facebook.

Months ago I created a facebook group of our teenage community theater group. Only DH and I were members. Now we've been discovered and the members are posting photos and old programs. I'm enjoying every second of reliving my youth.

Also have lots of stitching friends on facebook. Plus more and more stitching things/groups are showing up, like EGA National and other chapters, and JABC and Hoffman Distributing, and needlepoint shops like Rittenhouse. It's all good so far.

I'm with you facebook is as safe as you make it. And I'm not going to post anything I'm going to regret there or in any other semi-public forum. Even X-archiving doesn't mean it is going to disappear from all the computers in all the world.

If you Google Nathalie, you will see she is on just about every business and social networking site there is. She has lots of groups on Googlegroups and other places. I imagine she is trying to add a huge number of friends as part of promoting her various businesses.

If I get another one I shall track her down on some of them and bad mouth her about it. I consider it the height of bad manners, very ignorant and even worse than gd telemarketers.

She can promote all she wants but better exclude me if she knows whats good for her. If that sounds like a threat, it is !
