Well, my mum thought HER mum made the best chili in the world. Herewith Grandma Anderson's Completely Inoffensive Chili: half kilo or so of ground beef, and a chopped onion, cooked until brown. Drain that. Add one can of Campbell s Tomato soup and one can of Heinz kidney beans. What, you say? Where are the chili seasonings??? One TEASPOON chili powder. Yup. One. No need to open any beer to go with this chili, uhuh. No. Not at all. And a good thing that is too the way some people carry on and the next thing you know they are drinking beer right out of the bottle and not a coaster in sight. (Thanks Gran) Dawne

MMMM - sounds yummy. We didn't really have fall suppers - usually in Ontario it's Strawberry Socials in June when the fresh berries are in. Some churches do Thanksgiving dinners.

BTW, is your Sour Cream Apple pie the one from "Cooking that Schmecks" or from Nellie Lyle Pattison's "Canadian Cookbook? Or did you learn it, like I did, from your Mom? My mom learned to bake it when she lived in Kitchener, Ontario. She called it Dutch Apple Pie, but it's a recipe I've only found in Canadian cookbooks.
