Hope so - it worked well for the young fellow - think he was security in a mall - with a lovely tenor voice. He is singing full time now I heard.

I know whom you're referring, and he was a cell-phone salesman, with minimal training in opera. Has been on Today Show (live) here in US.

Proof that the old saying is really true -- NEVER judge a book by its cover! But you know that she'll get a manager and the first thing they will do is take her for a "make over" so that she looks more like her voice sounds! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

I finally watched the clip -- what a voice!!!! I hope she gets a big record contract or does a lot of concerts.

Does she have to go through more rounds of competition?

In doubting thomas mode -- please find a more appropriate phrase -- would we all have been so awe struck if we hadn't been looking at her and just heard her?

I doubt if the impact would have been as great if she wasn't a rather "dowdy" looking middle-aged woman. I will admit, my first thought was "she should TWEEZE those eyebrows!" OTOH I was really smiling when she did that little bump & grind and said that was only ONE side of her -- LOLOL! What a great attitude and such wonderful self confidence to go with that lovely voice. I watched the clip several times and the second time just sat here with my eyes closed to see if her voice seemed better or not. I will have to say I thought it even more lovely when I had my eyes closed and just HEARD what she was doing with her voice! CiaoMeow >^;;^<
