That's so good! Thank you Leslie.
Will try it this weekend when I have to par-boil potatoes for roasting. Got 10 for Sunday lunch. A family gathering before eldest DS goes back to doing long sea trips with the MN. Could be a long time before we all get together again. I will miss him because he is my computer wizard so I hope it behaves whilst he is away. Shirley

Thankyou, I loved it - my daughter hates the skin.
Looks like how you blanch tomatoes! Never thought of doing it to spuds though.
WOW! What a great timesaver for summer potato salad.
I sent the link to DD who is a chef. She cooks for about 36 every night, most of them older (18 to 21) "shelter" kids. I bet the kids would really get a kick out of seeing potatoes peeled this way :-)! CiaoMeow >^;;^<
Well now that's just awesome!

Wonderful! And even better in Japanese! (Wasn't planning to cook tonight, but now I'll just have to go boil some potatoes :-) Roberta in D

Howdy!

That's pretty slick! I was going to fix potatoes for supper, I'm gonna try it!
The potato skins are rich in nutrients. For salads, I like to use redskin potatoes (or maybe delicate new potatoes) and don't peel. The skin adds color and texture to potato salad, IMO. Besides, even with Ragmop's handy links, I only get LOTS of letters and numbers. I must have some cookies or blockers here. PAT

i'll agree with ya on the skins. tho we do take'em off for mashing....hmmmm, i wonder how much diff it would make with'em left on, must try that next time we have'em. i love eating the skins on both baked/jacket potatoes, in salad and i also eat the skins when we bake/roast pumpkin or sweet potatoes. i'm an oddity in this house tho, most of the family dont eat all the skins. cheers, jeanne
Mostly I like potatoes better with the skins left on. Mashed potatoes with the skins left on are delicious! I just wanted to try it for the fun of it then discovered that the only potatoes I have on hand are red potatoes. So I cooked them for supper (with the skins intact!).

So, you've learned how to peel a potato, but do you know how to fold a shirt??
OMG - that is _so_ neat! I'm not sure it would work with cotton t-shirts (mine tend to stick to themselves a bit more than that), but all my sports/outdoor tops might benefit.

Neat! But after I watched the slick Japanese lady a couple of times, YouTube offered me the same thing performed by a young American guy. His shirt came out reasonably well but not nearly as perfect as Ms. Japan's. Of course, it might have been a huge improvement on his previous method. Only one thing bothers me: the left sleeve sticks out on the back. Roberta in D

Okay, so you know I just *had* to try it... though I did have to come back to in front of the computer to do it. It WORKS!! Mine wasn't a pretty, but I imagine that maybe that lady has done it more than once or twice. It's got to be pretty cool for me to get excited about a way to fold clothes, since I hate doing it so much. Thanks for the link and the chuckle!
Going to have to search u-tube and see if someone can teach me how to fold a fitted sheet, esp. the King size ones. My mother could fold one and you couldn't tell it from the flat sheet and she showed me many times but I didn't learn, don't know if I didn't want to or if I just couldn't comprehend it. I still can't fold a fitted sheet and the way I fold them takes up so much room in the linen closet.
