We have several local charities that are really hurting right now because so many people are sending all their donatable funds to the Gulf Coast. Ironically, some are charities that will be looked to to provide for evacuaees who have come to our area. Food pantries have almost nothing on the shelves. At least one charity, which helps bereaved children, is facing a possible shutdown because funding has dropped off so precipitously.
Please, _please_ remember to keep supporting the charities that help those right in your area.
