I hate that too, sounds wrong, and I believe it is only newly right, a case of the language incorporating errors.

I have heard that frequently. I haven't seen the spelling, but the spoken word. I think it is correct....it doesn't sound bad to my UK school spelling.

Maybe that's an American thing because I don't ever remember anything different. I was taught, you plead, he pleaded, they pled.

No need to be sorry, I was just curious; I find language and the origins of words, especially ones English has "borrowed", to be really interesting :D
