OT: sharing some good news

I wasn't free to say anything publicly until all the hoops had been jumped, but finally....I GOT A JOB!!

Our church secretary decided to retire, and I'll be her replacement. Started training this morning, and will be full time as of Nov. 1.

Good news, bad news....less time for stitching, but a salary coming in at last! Easy commute - it's right at the end of my street - and I like the bosses!

I'm truly happy for you. This is a difficult time for so many seeking work.

Some food for thought: My dear friend worked as a church secretary for several years and loved it. The pay was poor, but the people terrific and she enjoyed what she was doing. Then a new pastor came and there was a terrible personality clash. Out the door my friend went. My point? No unemployment benefits. Churches are exempt. Something to think about over the long haul.

So excellent to hear. And, Sue, be proud - I didn't even blab ... Sue had to let me know 'cause this is the reason she can't hook up with us when Bobbie V is in DC.

Oh, I'm not going anywhere! I'll still be checking in. Though I can tell already that my reading rate will slow down, so I'll have fewer books to recommend! I tried reading last night, and couldn't keep my eyes open...

I'm back in NH now and sorry that I couldn't get together. Time sure does fly. I must say that Baby Eva was a very calm, alert and smiley child. She got through her Baptism better than the adults. Got to spend so little time with DS. This year's fellowship for Pediatric Neurology has drained him. He assures me that next year will be better. I hope so.

Did come back to 2 packages of stash though. Some beautiful yarn and the special delivery ornaments.
