OT: The things that teenagers get you into!

Our daughter Jane was telling me about her friend and co-worker who has two teenagers. Her oldest son wanted to stay overnight at a party, but was told firmly that he had to be home at eleven. At halfpast eleven he was still not home, so his mother hastily donned a parka and boots over her pyjamas and headed off in the car to where she thought the party was. She only knew the name of the road, but pounded on the door of the house with all the lights on, and all the cycles piled up outside.

"Is Charlie here?" she demanded, wishing she`d at least removed her curlers.

"shomewhere upstairsh" slurred the young man who had opened the door.

Expecting the worst she shot upstairs to drag him out - he had only passed out on the bed (alone) but she heard a familiar voice from the next room. In she went and dragged out her sister`s daughter, telling her "You`re coming home - NOW!!!"

She ended up driving home with three teenagers, all clutching bowls (feeling very poorly). Before long she heard a siren and saw a blue flashing light. Obediently she stopped, wound down the window - releasing a fog of alcoholic fumes and other noxious odours from the somewhat ill passengers.

"Do you realise you were exceeding the speed limit, madam?" asked the police officer.

"If you hang around long enough you`ll probably see me do murder, too!" said Mum.

Luckily he must have had a sense of humour, or teenage kids himself, or maybe just scared by the madwoman in pyjamas and curlers, because he let he go on her way with a caution.

I don`t know for how long the said teenagers have been grounded - I think they`re all still in bed anyway!
