I'ts a Dogue de Bordeux, or French mastiff, I think:

One of our neighbors had an English bull mastiff. A Gi-Normous dog, but such a sweetie. We trained the kids on the bus stop to sit on the curb when they saw Satchmo coming down the street, so they wouldn't get knocked over accidentally when he came to say hello (between the kids running up to pet him, and his tail swinging, etc.)
