Firehouse Angel Framing Finale

Okay. I'm a broken record. But why do the edges have to be hidden? And why does the mat have to be cut to accomodate the plaque? I'm staring at a brass plaque sitting on a mat, framed and under glass. It looks great! The darn plaque is probably 1/64" thick. A sliver, if you will.

I'm sure it doees look fine. Personally, I like the way the plaques look when they are set into a cut in the top mat rather than on top of it. I also think I like the idea of having the opening larger rather than covering the edges.

The two options I mentioned (cut the opening smaller or larger than the plaque) are the ones recommended by the framer. If the plaque sits on the top mat it will come in contact with the glass unless we add more spacers. I was adamant about *not* having spacers between the glass and the top mat because that's something I really do not like the look of. I much prefer the look of the opening cut a bit larger than the plaque and having just s smidgen of the bottom mat showing. So unless there is a general hue & cry to do it some other way, that's what I will have the framer do. CiaoMeow >^;;^<

IMO it looks much neater and more professional if inset into the mat. It`s not a matter of thickness, but just seems to show that that much more care has been taken over the presentation. Sticking it on the front seems to be an easy and perhaps cheap option.

But Pat - SHE wanted her name totally taking off the project - she demanded it - so I'm sure her name is not connected in any way now - by her own choosing. Let's not drag up all that crap - it was HER choice

- the project seems to be moving forward quickly now thanks to TIA - so rejoice in the ones who have actually worked on the project and are doing all the finishing touches - alot of work has been put into that by so many. It is on to its way of completion - now that has got to be a good thing. :-))

I'm glad you are all finishing her. Looking back, I wish I never invited anyone to do it with me. However, I have stitched something myself, framed it and delivered it to a firehouse. You all do whatever you want.

Well, threatening "to call a lawyer" (which means taking legal action against Dianne) IS "dire consequences", especially over something like this. FYI, I will make sure that your name does not appear anywhere on the paperwork that will be included with the Angel. We know you have stitched something yourself and framed it and delivered it to a firehouse. That has been made abundantly clear time and again. I would have preferred it if you had been able to wait one more year and maintained your involvement in this project and then none of the past unpleasantness would have occurred.
