I was just looking at the Baltimore Museum of Art website and noticed a new exhibit opening tomorrow. It's a 10-foot by 7-foot Chinese embroidered silk panel. The exhibit is called "In Praise of the Prince of Fenyang: Decoding a Chinese Embroidery."

coupled with a showing of Matisse's original "Jazz" book - the first time in a decade - will make the trip doubly worthwhile! Inider hints for visitors: I've heard rumors that in October the BMA is dropping their admission charge and admission will be free. For summer, it's only "First Thursdays" that are free admission. The Chinese textile exhibit is through February, but the Matisse is done at the end of August (the 27th).

Also, note that the restaurant at the museum (Gertrude's) is a destination in itself. Delicious food - plan on getting a meal there if you visit the museum. Pretty pricey, though - but lovely Sunday brunch, and on Tuesday they have a $10 prix fixe dinner that's a good deal (portion moderate, but then you have room and money for the wonderful desserts).

Thanks for the heads up! Might be worth a trip over since I've been wanting to do the Inner Harbor again anyway! I'm not going until after I heal from having this baby though, so I'll be missing Matisse's piece, but they always have something of interest to me anyway!

Sounds lovely. Sadly I doubt I'll make it up there, weekends being my only time off from my paying job means the non-paying one of Mom takes all my time.

It's just amazing how much stuff kids need to do in a weekend!
