Stitchers in Georgia?

Just wondering if there are any fellow stitchers in Georgia. I thought it would really be cool if some of us could get together and stitch and talk and get to know each other and share stitching ideas. maybe in the next few months one Saturday or something. Anyone got any ideas on this? Ang

There are a number of stitchers here in Georgia. The problem is that we are all spread out over the state. I am in Cumming, north of Hotlanta and, IIRC, there is only one other stitcher up this way. Several stitchers are on the east side and a few more on the west side and then several south of the city and in the southern part of the state. That's the rub. No one is really nearby and trying to meet up is pretty difficult to arrange. None of us want to have to drive to the other side of this *$R*(&#$*&%#$ city with it's screwy traffic! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

OOO -- Dawsonville isn't all that far and getting there doesn't involve driving Hwy. 20 or Hwy. 141 -- LOL! We'll need to do a "meet & greet" once you get settled. DH and I try to go to the CruiseIn held at the Outlets on the 2nd (I think) Saturday of the month. CiaoMeow >^;;^<

It might be difficult for you to get together often, but why not shoot for once a year? Go reserve a B&B in a central location and have a stitch-in!

For the stitchers or for B&B owners? :-) If anyone knows of B&Bs that have their own chocolate shop (or are next-door to one), I'd be more than happy to keep track of them. Might even go "test drive" them if I ever get to feeling flush with cash...

Where the devil is Winder??? Remember, I am north of Hotlanta off of GA 400. IIRC, Elizabeth said she is moving up to Dawsonville which is even further north. I know *most* of the towns along the main roads in North Central GA but am not familiar with Winder. I wonder if it is south, west or east of The City?? CiaoMeow >^;;^<

I'm afraid many of the GA stitchers are younger than MOI. That means they either don't or won't have the money for a get away weekend or they can't or won't tear themselves away from their maggots. I guess this is one of the benefits of having a nice family income and not have maggots underfoot. Lots to be said for getting "more mature" -- LOLOL! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Mary,

If you are in Cumming, Winder is about 45 minutes from you. Problem in getting there is the MALL OF GA! My nemisis, I currently live 2.25 miles from it and thus the reason for the relocation to the Dawsonville area. Has anyone but me been to the Dogwood Patch since the relocation to Hiawasee?

Hi ya'll, There appear to be a number of stitchers scattered about Northwest Georgia and within an hour's drive of some central location. I regularly drive distances like that to visit friends and shops. Personally, I wouldn't mind going to a library, bookstore, resturant, etc. to meet and greet fellow stitchers. Winder is is north of Atlanta on 85 and east on 211 (the Chateau Elan exit). DH commutes to GA Tech and I used to work in Athens, about 30 miles west. Although I'm retired and have no children at home, I wouldn't like going away for the weekend. I don't mind daytrips. Jessie in Winder, GA

I haven't been up there recently. I got the e-mail about the move and was just waiting for the weather to change before heading up that way. When do you move? Maybe once you are on this side of 400, we can arrange a meet & greet and maybe do a day trip up to Hiawassee?? Not only do I abhor going *anywhere* on Hwy. 20, I will take every back road I know of to keep away from the Mall of GA! I also avoid going any further south than exit 7 (Holcomb Bridge Rd) on 400! Well, except for when I have to go to MARTA :-). Even going down to exit 7 can be a nightmare!!! OH and I KNOW I can find places using mapquest but I much prefer to ask. This means I actually get to "talk" to that person and maybe meet someone new 8-0 Strange thought, I know but hey -- I like to meet new people :-)! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

OK -- gotcha -- especially with that reference to the Chateau Elan exit -- as if I will ever get to go THERE 8-0 . I don't mind making a

1 hour drive to do a meet & greet. Problem is, from here, it takes me almost an hour just to get to I-85 because of the traffic on Hwy. 20. What's within an hour of you if you go west instead of up or down I-85? I routinely go north and then hie off to the east or west -- *anything* as long as I don't have to deal with Hwy. 20 or I-85 down this way! I grew up in Los Angeles and learned how to drive in that traffic. Then I moved to Lizard Land and had to drive in that traffic. Now I just like NOT having to drive **anywhere** in traffic if I can help it -- LOL! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Gee, Tia Mary, maybe you should move to ND! There's no traffic

*anywhere* in the state to compare to any large urban area! :)

Well, I hate the traffic and the heat and the humidity BUT I doubt if I could make it through one of your winters! Mind you, if I had enough $$$ I would dearly LOVE to try and make it through one of the winters. With enough money, I could pay someone to drive me around if need be. Of course, I would have to live somewhere near mountains. You have mountains *somewhere* in the state I would assume -- besides Rushmore, I mean and I can't for the life of me remember if that's in ND or SD!!! My geography is a bit rusty -- sorry :-)!
