Freezer paper forever

I got a catalog from a company I have order from several times before. As I was flipping through, I noticed that they offer HUGE rolls of freezer paper. A basic roll is 15" wide by 1,000 feet long. If you ordered a roll, I bet it would last your entire quilting career.

Unless your kids or grandkids found it - it's great for finger painting on the glossy side and the other side is for markers or crayons! We always had it on a dowel like paper towels for the kids!

Marcella, Ha! You could quilt a floor runner from your place to mine in Australia! Go on, do it, flying geese... The product must be for store purchasers.

This might be a good idea for those outside the USA where freezer paper is hard to come by and expensive- go in together and share a roll?

Sadly, I suspect the weight of that package would cause a customs bill that would in turn effect an immediate heart attack for the recipient.

Ordering a roll that length would require that you own a quilt shop AND a butcher shop, wouldn't it???!!! Marlys in Indiana

Or, you bought a roll and shared it with all the quilters in your state and the neighboring three or four states! ;-)

I dunno 'bout that! I just checked and I am low on my 150 ft. roll. I go thru one about every 6 months, so 1000 ft. wouldn't take too long for me to use up. And I haven't been that active in my quilting lately (like the last 3 years!), but this church quilt that's haunting me to get serious about will use at least one 150 ft. roll and prolly 2 before it's all done and over with. I use freezer paper for all my drawings and designs and patterns- and some take quite a few revisions. Also use it for all my applique' work. I even use it for "window treatments" when I move into a house- it's a great cover taped to windows for privacy until I can install mini-blinds or draperies. Gee, it just dawned on me... I've *never* used it for freezing! ;-)

Donna, Point well taken. Since I live not too close to anyone who quilts never really gave the sharing thing a thought. Might be cheaper (gas wise) for each of us to buy a roll from the local grocery store, wouldn't ya think, in stead of trying to share one of those big, monster rolls??!!!!! (VBG) Of course, would give a number of us an excuse to get together and chat over quilting. Hmmmmmm!!!!! Marlys in Indiana
