reality quilting

Just got the issue of The Quilter (the one with Nann's quilt), and read about this contest. There has got to be someone in RCTQ that can enter this contest.... check it out:

Sounds like anybody with $20 can enter. But did you read all the rules? Most people will get nada for their $20 (sounds like some judged shows! LOL) Forty people will get their quilt in the magazine and a few other prizes (the taxes will be more than the cost of the prizes they really want). Only one person will get the really good prize (and it's a purchase prize, to boot, so you lose your quilt in the process.)

Hmmm.... maybe I should be starting a magazine... ;-)

I'm baffled. "Bringing the excitement of reality TV to the quilting and publishing worlds" suggests something like "Big Brother" or "I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here", but the contest appears to be an absolutely normal one. Is there a gimmick I'm not seeing?
