AQS online quilt contest

AQS is once again sponsoring an online quilt contest. I suspect I've been very silly, but I did enter a quilt this time, and I'm hoping for more than one vote, since the winners (and whiners ) will be determined by viewers alone -- no official judges. If you'd like to see which quilt I entered, it's at: . I'd love to have your vote, but I'll understand completely if another quilt captures your heart. :) Enjoy the eye candy.

Sandy, could you please say what entry yours is? Since they don't list who submitted what, I don't know what your quilt looks like. All your link says is 11.

Oops! Sorry, Jan -- it's #1011, and it's called African Feathered Stars. Thanks for pointing out my omission. :)

But which one is it? There are no names with the quilts.

@$#! My very vigilant anti-virus anti-everything won't let me go there. Hmmmmm. Just WHAT did you put on this quilt? Polly

Here is what I did. I clicked on the link "Go to quilt # _____" and clicked on # 1011, just to check it out. Sure enough, when that came up I recognized the quilt as one Sandy has shown us here in RCTQ Land. I recognized a quilt by a local quilt guild member, too. It is on first page, has big cat looking at fish. There were many lovely quilts in the contest!! Good luck to our Sandy in Nevada! PAT

Well this is one election that I was very proud to vote in. I certainly hope you win Sandy because that is one beautiful quilt. I just wish I could put my imagination into gear and turn out some really amazing stuff like that. I just haven't been able to get past the "I'm too scared to try it cause I'll totally screw it up" state of mind yet. One of these days I know I have to step out of my comfort zone and let my imagination go wild with a quilt design. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you to win.

Hugs, Mika

Oh, come on now, Mika. Jump in. I've just been MQing feathers on a crib quilt. Sometimes I forget which way I'm supposed to curve into (or out of). Doesn't matter. Baby is going to use the quilt to dry the dog, make a tent and chew on. Try something amazing. Enjoy the journey. Polly

"Mika" I just wish I could put

That's sad Mika. How about: when you see a pattern you like, get into the habit of trying a block/piece/section with spare fabric straight away. If it goes awry (as you fear) jettison it. However, I bet you will find that more times than not it will be OK. That way you will build your confidence, and a 'stock' of patterns that have been tested and you know you can do. . I voted too! Wouldn't all of those quilts look great hung as their own show? Wow. There is an awful lot of talent "out there"!

Your quilt is spectacular -- I thought so when you posted pictures of it earlier. I like your color choices and the feathered star is beautiful. I voted for it. Bev in TX

You're right, Kathyl! And I'm delighted at everyone voting -- whether for my quilt or someone else's. I'm glad I entered early on, since I'm not sure I'd have had the courage to do so after seeing some of the later entries. :O

Thanks so much, Kim! :) This one didn't take much imagination, since it's just some traditional blocks put together, but I sure enjoyed making it. :)
