Medium merlot for me please

I don't drink wine, don't take ativan and really don't feel I need to chill. Nothing makes me happier then a nice, ladylike even though heated debate, even when it isn't a popular subject.

I'll definitely drink the wine, but have never tried ativan, nor do I ever intend to. Comes to something when people seek to curb ones opinions. However, that said, never going to work with me !

Well, we had a nice glass of 'Roxey's Rose' from a local county winery (By Chadsey Cairns). We went out last weekend and did a tour of five wineries (out of almost 20 in the county) and brought a case of different wines home. This was one of them.

Hhe DH grilled pork chops, and I did smashed potatoes and pan-sauted Brussels sprouts. - Yummmm

Actually, on glass two - out of sorts tonight.. Had time alone to stitch and had "Later with Jools Holland" to listen to while stitching, but didn't get very far.

Drinking that second glass now...

Well... My New England Stitchers group (on yahoo) is doing a stitch along so I found the fabric for that and pulled the threads. I'm got to do a few calculations to double check I have enough. Decided it needed some sparkle and pulled out some blending filament and will use a sparkly white instead of plain old "blanc".

While the house was quiet, I got a few more rows of my "Bouquet for Cheryl" done.

Than I watched a show on "pumpkin chunkin" and had my wine while DH bitched about DS's teams lack luster performance. (he was not in net).

Drank the second glass while I check FB and here and did a few other things.

I have taken up quilting and really enjoying it. Lots of scope for ones own ideas and can be combined with various stitch techniques. So am now a fabric fondler as well as a fiber fondler.LOL! What are you currently working on?? Ruby

Good for you. It's tempting - I gave in and had a couple of pieces of Halloween treats - probably not as good as the Malbec.

LOL - Lucille, I love you! Though there were some key words in that - something about ladylike....I'm with you - I wonder if it's that common heritage of arguing - err, I mean discussing all the meanings, possibilities of something. I just don't like it when people seem to just be sniping, mean in their comments - which easily happens when we're communicating via electrons.

Well, can't believe I'm up early, even though we could be sleeping, and already on my 2nd load of laundry. Something wrong with this picture. I'm thinking of stitching - but it's all way downstairs, and the laundry way upstairs. Today - no work - yeah. DH is skating pretty much all afternoon, and I have to go pick up stuff from the electoral board (must have the pollbooks in my personal possession thru election, then those and memory cards go back via me as well). The election coming up on Tuesday is going to be interesting. Extremely ugly, contentious gubernatorial race. The D candidate's campaign was poorly run, and they didn't capitalize on the fabulous recent past of the 2 prior governors, and had a weird relationship with the White House (stupid campaign management). OTOH, the R candidate has run a really long campaign, even when there was no republican primary he had ads going. And has claimed attachment to the populous "yankee" part of the state - i.e. Northern virginia. So, it's looking ugly here - and the other elections that go with are bad. Plus, one of the congressional districts has an unopposed candidate - which means write-in votes. Ugh. So, I think I'll be having plenty of debate during the election.

Narg, sounds fab. We had some really interesting wine when we went out for my b-day about 10 days ago. It was "Itsas Mendi Bizkaiko Txakolina 2007" - labelled as Basque on the menu. Link I just found here:

splurged after the waiter told us the bartender said it was "different" -and brought us a glass to try. We were in a fish restaurant (great seafood)- and we're picky white wine drinkers. Hard to describe, a little pear, veryclean, crisp, but a little bit of lingering, very slight effervescence butnot as much as a chardonnay or riesling. It was fun. Evidently our "blind"purchase was the really good vintage year. The restaurant had moved fromit's prior, smaller, location - and working out kinks. Which meant fooderratic - main dishes fabulous, sides for me cold. Also meant free dessertsand after dinner drinks. Very yummy martini-type drink made with espressovodka, godiva white chocolate, real chocolate, and who knows - needless tosay I wasn't driving. Our neighborhood is sponsoring a wine country tour on a bus next weekend - we're trying to see if we can do it. Sounds like fun and we almost never make the time - though Donna & I have been threatening to have the guys do that with us. This section of Virginia has a good amount of wineries - maybe 40 or so. The "good" wine from here is Viognier, evidently the weather is similar to the region of France where this is grown well, so...

Glad you had fun, and yumminess.

Hey, not OT now. What fun. Did you do something just for the workshop? Or work on techniques, or a piece you already had done. I've got a couple of finished tops that need to be put together and quilted. Thinking I'm going to do a little practice as it's been a little while.

I've been working on my "Spring Morning" and finished a few flower petals. It's just very precise I'm finding 'cause I want the couching to be just so

- if anything is off, I think it shows, so there I am using a laying tool for these little over 2 threads & a metallic stitches. And a magnifier 'cause though I can see this count just fine without, it's hard to really see holes being used which are most of the time under a metallic being couched. But fun to do - not tedious at all. Someone at stitch-group on Thursday asked me "how long is this going to take you to do" - my guess - maybe 40 hours, maybe 60 hours. Who knows. Taking about 40 min a petal, maybe a little less. The leaves only take about 15-20 min depending on the sitch. But the big Or Nue' flower will take a few hours on it's own. And then I have to design a support (trellis or something) for this floral spray to appear to be hanging on. But, it's fun.

I've also picked back up on my "Welcome Spot Sampler" from Drawn Thread. Which is about 60% done. And I could finish with just a few hours work, after I remove the thread I didn't like, and the white framing the windows that I decided I don't like. Ugh. And also playing with 2 original pieces. Not quite finalized but they'll get there.
