Given the day I'm having, any decent chocolate with in 50 yards of me would be instantly eaten.

No - nothing major, but DD has been home all day, wanting to be "amused" and catered to and DS just lost the screw out of his glasses....and the house is a TOTAL disaster...

I'll try remember to send you some when it gets cold....

Oh dear - when you find and replace the screw (if it's the one that attached arm to lens frame) dab a little clear nail polish over it, the screw will not fall out again.

OK - I've got some packages to send out on Friday - 'cause finally I don't have to work. Today was "post-election" get some sleep, go turn stuff in at the electoral board, then generally waste the afternoon wandering in old Leesburg. So, I'll have time to get things out on Friday, and will include some cornbread mix with your package.

For fun, after antiquing for a couple of hours, DH & I tried a wine bar/restaurant for late lunch. Great decision - they have happy hour in the afternoon, which meant he got $2 pumpkin (it's a microbrewery as well) ale, I got some lovely local Cab for $5, and....he was thrilled with some small plates "pork belly" with some thing, and I had some grilled Canadian foie gras on brioche, with pomegranate jus. Yum. Then we found $5 flat bread with artisan cheese. So, a bit splurgy - the small plates were too little for a full lunch, the flat bread put us way over the top, so now we just got home. However, we decided definitely a place to hang-out - a no-smoking bar (where we ate instead of dining room which is closed from 3-5).

Sounds better than life in NH. Worked yesterday, DD felt well enough to go to school. But she crashed by (school) day's end and is home again today. Tonight, I'll go do the "errands" after I make, serve and clean up from dinner. Got some returns and I want to see if I can find a new winter jacket that isn't fleece or down, but someplace in the middle.

He's old enough for contact lenses - much better option, especially for sports.

He didn't survive the fitting. Took that doctor's advice - glasses only for driving. And work on tracking objects in motion with out them. His vision has really improved sans glasses. And he still needs a pair as back up.

DH still wears glasses when not doing sports. Contacts for sports, glasses rest of time. He can't really read well with the contacts - so now he's going to try some new version, or the 2 different ones. The doctor this past year thought perhaps he could do bifocal contacts - but DH resisted. So, now we're getting him an apptmt before the year is up so our vision insurance will cover new glasses, contacts and he finally gets it straight. But, he's been wearing contacts for sports since he was about 13. He also wears them when we're going out - theatre or even hockey games - looks nice

- but then he makes me read all the menus.

I have bifocal contacts and just love them. I compromised and still need readers for heavy reading, but it's heavenly to be able to read a menu or see my cell phone read out or watch face.

Good to know. I'm hopeful that we will have this sorted out before the end of the year. I can tell it's finally getting to him. Glad the bifocal contacts are working well for you.

I used to really envy any one who could wear contacts. Now there is so much more choice in frames - color, shape and materials and with the advent of the polycarbonate lens, I really don't mind them. My current pairs are light, attractive and frankly really fun.

My Best friend growing up had to wear glasses, and she truly made it a fashion statement - always had a few pairs to suit her mood. But...she was a ballet dancer (dancing with the Miami ballet starting when we were in 9th grade) and had to get some kind of contacts for that - I think she couldn't read, but at least she didn't stumble into other dancers. Though I have a great picture of a dress rehearsal for Le Sylphide (IIRC) when she did some pivoting arabesque thing and kicked the quite famous Edward Villella in the head - whomp! I try to buy readers that are at least cute... When I was very little before my eye surgery I had to wear lovely harlequin glasses - I believe pink with little rhinestones - with one lens frosted. Not sure I ever recovered. But, I am thankful that at least my eyes still work...given the warranty on the rest of me seemed to run out some time ago.

Even I had something like that when I was a kid. I'm not sure but I bet they would have been blue.

I went to contacts because at that time I was diving and spending much time out in my dory and glasses and fog, well they just don't do well!
