Partly OT: An interesting LOTR site

Yesterday I was over at my parent's home to tune up my parents computers and show my mother how to increase the resolution of her button scans (She's the button collector). Just before I left she called me to come see an email that she received from a gentleman about buttons that he just started making. He got her email address from her website "The Queen's Button Drawer"

turns out this man and his son make coins for fantasy roles and have a whole Middle Earth series. They also have Kilgon coinage and SCA coinage. At their store front they even have postage stamps. And he is know adding coinage Buttons.

I may be crazy, but I think some of his work could be turned into stitch patterns. My mother says i should write to him. I envision a banner on the scale of the "Celtic Banner" but with a Middle Earth theme. i mean he has coins from Mordor, Saruman, and the Southerns, as well as the Shire, Gondor, and Rohan. He also has Elven and Dwarf coinage. (Thank goodness DD Sarah didn't see the elf coins or she might be tempted to have another tattoo) These buttons FYI would be classified as Studio buttons. But I really can see some of his engraving as stitched motifs. AHHHH!!!!!!!!! >:o

and indeed the coins would probably make good counted cross stitch patterns. I selected one at random, and at

150 stitches square, it looked like a good pattern. If you are interested in turning any of these into patterns, please email me. I can do this sort of thing for nothing. But you need to do quite a bit of work to prepare the pictures so that I dont have to do any thinking. HTH.
