Hi, For my website I made a text generator which can print a chart of your own text. Now I want to stitch some examples and I would like to ask your help on this. Well, not on the stitching part but on finding a right poem, little rhyme, limericks, a saying or whatever in English, which is not my language ( :-). I think of 2 to 20 lines (depending on type size) that will look good in cross stitch or backstitch, something friendly, funny, to think about. Something old and free of rights would be easiest, but otherwise I will try trace the author to ask for permission.

How about this.
There is so much good in the worst of us, And so much bad in the best of us, That it ill behooves any of us, To talk about the rest of us.
I am virtually certain there is not copyright problem.
Thank you James! This is pretty much the kind of general wisdom I am looking for. Grea
I have been looking for a text generator like your for a long time -- thanks for doing this. Is it possible to put in a feature to erase the last letter? I spelled a word wrong but I saw it right away, then when I tried to clear it, I lost the whole thing. Thanks!
Believe me, this function is number ONE on my wishlist, but, I promissed myself to other things first :-) As I'm not much of a programmer and it seems like I made the wrong choises to be able adding an erase feature. So, I'll have to look for a different approach that will allow a 'backspace' button, and the other things on my wishlist. It will take a while. For now, spell carefully! Grea
I "second your emotion" for adding a backspace/erase feature. The text generator works quite well, otherwise. I applaud the ingenuity of Ms. van Vlerken in creating her web site and the text generator.

This is from a card my parents sent on my birthday a few years ago.
She who works with her hands is a labourer She who works with her hands and her head is a craftswoman She who works with her hands her head and her heart is an artist
Sorry, no grammar on the card. I know it missing a few commas at least. Maybe someone could help?
Tara
Thanks for your encouragement Betty. I'll surely try to improve the text generator.

Thanks Tara, perhaps it is nice to add the hands+head+heart in cross stitch. Grea
Not sure the copyright on it, it does look like it's owned by someone still alive. It gets quite a few hits on google.

The saying - rendered as "he who works with his hands..." - is usually attributed to St Francis of Assisi (1181-1226)
My first thought reading Tara's post was about this gender change :-) Grea
I typed in: Nothing is as precious as a newborn child
I will be looking forward to further enhancements of this!

Well, it kept me awake and finally did I find a solution, and some more:
- erase individual characters by a double click
- set text alignment left, center, right
- a 5/10 grid is added in the background (yes/no print is set by your browser)
- you can print a fitting graphpaper to layout the text on paper
Have fun! Grea, I'll announce this tool in a new thread
Hi,
In another thread I recently mentioned my text generator. I made several improvements on it so now it is even more fun to use:
Thanks so much for your hard work. This is going to be a favorite site for me.
