Thanks, guys. I googled and found a company where I can just make a small order, free shipping, and same day printing. It has to be the holiday weekend here,of course, but it shouldn't take long to get here from Illinois. She won't be wearing many clothes, but she needs cotton housedress type or things. They asked her if she had any at home, and she didn't even know what they were talking about! Our Miss Dorothy wore high heels and slinky sexy clothes all her life! LOLOL

Just a little hint. A very comfortably-off friend of mine in Tampa had her beloved mother in one of these places, and she said that between the thievery and the extremely harsh laundry methods, nightgowns, robes and house dresses did not last long. She got round that by buying them - lots of them - at the local thrift stores and church rummage sales provided they were in good condition.

Gillian that's a suggestion I will ditto - I know that happens here too and to save yourself aggravation just take in things that don't matter if they are ruined or go awol. Nice will always disappear.

Well, frankly, I suspect (and hope) she won't be there too long. She is ready to die, and has lost all interest in day to day life. Sips the water and iced tea; eats maybe a teaspoon at meals. I am hoping that in her mind she can remember that the Schiavo woman died without food and drink within two weeks, and utilises the information. I obviously can't tell her this is the easy way out!! She is very weak, and I think she will die in 2-3 months at this rate.

They found her a duster that had gone astray in the laundry, and I stopped at Walmart and picked up a couple of pretty, but cheap cotton ones. This is in all likelyhood the only things she will be wearing. They are not transparent, so her modesty (?) will be appeased. She is at this point in bed all the time except for the one time a day she goes to therapy, and they move her arms and legs around. I am doing her laundry myself at this point, so I know exactly what is there.

I have her masses and masses of clothes to go through and sort out. I think my washer will be working overtime. Some will be donated, some thrown away, and some nice ones I will take to the consignment store (or there is always Ebay, but that means nore work)

It's very hard to say. My mother already had well developed cancer when my father died, out of the blue. She basically, turned her face to the wall but she did not die for over a year. She ate incredibly little and latterly ate only half an avocado and 2oz of smoked salmon per day. In the end, try though she might, she had to wait for the cancer to release her. She too had been a clothes horse, always terribly elegant - I represented everything that appalled her in a daughter, I think she always wondered if I had been swapped in the nursery lol I believe one of the hardest things she had to accept was what cancer did to her appearance, she mentioned it frequently.

Anyway, whatever the outcome, you know we all support you Gillian, cause I think you better fasten your seat belt, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Yup, you are probably right. However I told her today that I was 1000% behind her in anything. Would you believe the newest grand-daughter-in- law called her this morning, and talked for an HOUR?? Even with her exagration any call over 10 mins is enough, and a visit should be short, good and frequent!

We Will Survive!!! Bless his heart, Jim said tonight that he was from hereon focussing on future life, him, me and the two dogs. I asked if I could be the bitch-in-charge, and was immediately appointed to that distinguished position!! Cannot all be doom and gloom!

Remember those lovely cool, patterned, very thin and very roomy and shapeless Indian cotton dresses in the eighties? I loved them Wish I could find them now!
