Re: Knitting again

Oddly enough they were mentioned on my radio this a.m. - wands have been around since 1940 and detectors you walk through, shortly after.

You're young you, I have been flying since the era of Sunderland sea 'planes. (In case you don't know, that was waaaay before any jet aircraft !)

Well, in the 70s it wasn't so rife with the drug trade. That hit it's high mark start in the 80s. When I was in high school, my friends and I would go to the airport for something to do late night at times - best people watching around, and open restaurants.

I think my folks were worried when I was fighting and laughing about them searching my books and slide rule - it was bizarre.

Stupid things happen everywhere.

Vic, if that's a general you, rather than a specific "Sheena you," you are dead wrong. A person can travel widely in Europe crossing borders at will without a passport or going through customs. It's called the Schengen Agreement and has caused the tightening of borders around the Schengen countries will eliminating them between those countries.

Once you have entered any of the 25 countries that make up the Schengen area, you can travel to any of the other 24 without a passport and without passing though customs. The UK and Ireland are not part of the Schengen Agreement, nor is Russia, but almost everything between France and Ukraine is a member.

Because of this, the controls implemented at the various points of entry into the area are that much tighter.
