Re: rum balls

Oranges have more potassium per calorie than bananas do.

Ah - but there are ALWAYS bananas in the house. DH eats at least one a day. (apples are usually around too). But I was the only orange eater and as such only buy one or two at a time.

Only recently has another orange eater appeared. DD tried a slice at the Chinese place and decided she likes oranges now. So I can get them when they look good C

Oh, Melinda, that stinks! Having weird food allergies, myself, as well as things I just don't eat (i.e. meat), I would be beyond angry with anyone who tried to serve me something I can't/won't eat. Fortunately for me, my in-laws and friends are rather oversensitive about the issue, which is better than the alternative!

I've had the exact opposite experience as a hostess, though. Friends were staying with us for the weekend and had eaten at our house on several occasions before this. The husband in the couple is violently allergic to nuts; send to the hospital allergic. And he NEVER told us!!! Until we almost served him hazelnut-flavored coffee. I'm so glad his wife smelled it before he did!!! I still can't quite fathom why he had never said something before. And very glad I had never made any dishes with almonds in them when they were over!

From what I've observed, there aren't many of us. Why can't they make a cherry- or orange-flavored toothpaste? And not the "citric breeze", which is still mint. yuck.

Glad I've found a compatriot in this, Katheryne! Joan

Colgate makes lemon-flavored toothpaste in the little plastic stand-upside-down containers. Cinnamon, too.

The unsweetened toothpaste I buy comes in cinnamon, which stings, and fennel, which isn't too bad.

I'm surprised that I haven't seen any clove. Perhaps the connection is a tad too direct.

Last time I looked, you could still buy Barbie toothpaste, which comes in a bubblegum flavor. There are some other children's ones, but I can't remember the flavor.

Want the tea tree oil one that my DH's dentist gives away?

Check the "health food" section of the grocery store - Tom's of Maine has a fennel which is quite acceptable.

Like someone said - Tom's of Maine does a Silly Strawberry (in the kid's dept) and a Orange/ Mango flavored one...

The strawberry is very understated and the Orange/Mango is - (as Emeril says 'BAM!!')

Our cat has been prescribed some fish-flavoured toothpaste but I've no intention of discovered just how fishy it tastes. And so far we've not worked out a way to apply it to the cat's gums & teeth without incurring severe injury. Bruce
