I use one similar to this, except that I rolled them in confectioners sugar. I used to package them up, and mail them to my son when he was aboard ship!

AUNT ADA?S RUM BALLS

2 c. Crushed vanilla wafers 1 c. Finely chopped pecans or walnuts 1-1/4 c. Powdered sugar ¼ c. Cocoa ½ c. Run or brandy ¼ c. Light corn syrup

Mix together the wafers, nuts, 1 c. Sugar and cocoa, then add the rum and syrup and mix well. Roll the mixture into small balls and allow them to dry for about 15 minutes. Roll the balls in the remaining powdered sugar and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Rum Balls

1 C. vanilla waver crumbs 1 C. confectioners sugar or superfine sugar 1 ½ C. finely chopped pecans 2 T. cocoa 2 T. light corn syrup 3 T. rum (may use bourbon, but spoils the name)

Combine first four ingredients. Add syrup and rum. Mix thoroughly with hands. Shape into small balls and roll in confectioners sugar or superfine sugar. Store in airtight container with secure lock. Should be allowed a week to mellow. Unlock and enjoy.

RUM BALLS

1-1/2 c. vanilla wafer crumbs (about 50 cookies) 1/4 c. dark rum (80 proof) ¼ c. honey 8 oz. (2 c.) ground walnuts confectioners? sugar

Combine all ingredients, except sugar; blend thoroughly. Shape into small balss about 1" in diameter. Roll in sugar. Store in tightly covered container. Makes about 2-1/2 dozen.

Well, I made these for the office party except I used honey instead of the corn syrup. Lots of compliments, although they were a bit strong on the rum for some people. Many thanks. Dora
