recycling vintage linens

I have inherited a load of crocheted doilies, linen bureau scarves, runners etc from the thirties and prior - nice embroidery, tatted edges etc. There's a hole or stain in the center of some of tehm. What could I convert them to? Fingertip towels? I think I'll sell the doilies and antimacassars, tho, to any antique dealer who makes any kind of offer.

Hoping for suggestions. Thanks for your ideas. val

to the exhibition "Fabrics remember " you might see what fiberartists [me included did with old linnen. Also several years ago i used `doilies` and by adding Free Form crochet edges , turned them into a Lamp shade. mirjam from Haifa Israel.

I have a bunch like that from my grandmother and plan to turn at least some of them into stuffed animals for her 3 great-grandchildren. I have seen several done this week and love how they look.

I converted the bur. scarves into guest towels and a small square antimacassar type thing into a bread basket liner. The rest will be donated to an antique dealer.
