Howdy all.
I've finished the stitching on "All Hallows Eve" from Lavendar Wings, and now I have to create the pillow. Unfortunately, the leaflet doesn't give the instructions for that. And I am a sewing virgin...pretty much.
It appears that the finished model had a larger piece of fabric that served both as backing AND had the extra edging folded and stitched against the evenweave. Sorry if I'm being clear. The URL for this piece, the doorknob pillow, is
Any ideas and strategies on measuring out the needed pieces for a pattern would be tremendously appreciated. The finished design is 3
5/8" wide and 5 1/4" high. So it looks, from the model, that the banding around the evenweave is perhaps 1 to 1 1/2" inches finished width. I'm guessing that using a 1/2" seam allowance I'd need to cut pieces that are 2 to 2 1/2" wide depending on what width I choose, yes?
Phew... this is too much thinking for a sewing machine virgin, but I definitely want to do this as I want to start a nine-patch quilt as my first machine pieced quilting project.
Thanks for any and all help, pointing me toward websites with ideas, etc.
Best wishes, Pat in PA
