Banding question

Mar 16, 2006 3 Replies

Hi Guys,

I have a piece that I want to do on banding (I know I want to do it as a bell pull and it will make the finishing that much easier!)

So

Does is the width of the banding the stitch-able area or is it the full width including the border?

What I want to stitch is 80 stitches wide on 32 count. So I either need to find 5-6 inch wide banding in 32 count (16 if I go Aida, which I don't) or find a higher count.

And, great source of nice banding please? This will be the first time I used it.

Cheryl

Cheryl,

Nordic Needle has 8" banding 28 ct in several colors. HTH Bobbie V.

I'm not really sure I want to go wider - wouldn't the design look lost with the wide border.

This is the piece! (Susan ordered it for me!)

I'd get the exact stitch count. I wouldn't count on the measurement to be consistently one way or the other! ;-) I would think you could email or call to ask about the specific banding you were interested in. I can't recall what it was for the banding I used. It may be a moot point, though, as you might have to go with the 8" 28 count linen banding. I think maybe Charland has a linen banding that's closer to 6" if you want to go hunting.

I've had good luck with Nordic Needle:
