Please, I need help w/Pagota Sampler

If you want to work it on 18 count, you need to know the width and height of the working part of the pattern in stitches - count the squares on the pattern if necessary. Once you know exactly how many stitches wide and tall the pattern is, in stitches not inches, divide the number of stitches by 18 and this will tell you how large the pattern will be if stitched as an 18 count piece. Be sure to add 3-4 inches on all sides so you will have room for finishing the piece as a framed picture. Hoe this helps.

It would seem to me to be a simple Math problem. IF the *stitched* design measures 12 x 19 inches on 26 ct Fabric, there would be12 x 26 stitches across and 19 x 26 stitches down. Divide each of these by 18 ( for your 18ct Aida) and you would have a piece 17 1/3 inches by 27 1/2 inches long. Of course the entire width and length may not all be stitched! Then don't forget to add another 6-8 inches to the width and length for the framing etc.

Watch out - 26 threads to the inch is not 26 stitches, unless you are stitching over one. It is the equivalent of 13 stitches to the inch. So you divide your stitch count by 13 - not 26. Since you are also talking about 18 count aida, and you've mentioned that the original count would be too fine, I'm assuming this is what you meant.

You are right, ( and I hadn't had my first cup of tea at that time), BUT, the description says:- "This is worked 26 cross stitches to the inch; create your own Pagoda Sampler in any thread count. This measures 12" by 19" when worked on 26 count fabric", which inferred it was one over one!

Chiming in where I don't belong... The first post stated the original was worked on a non-even weave. Has the design been modified to look correct on an even weave? I'd worry about that first and then try to figure out the size of the design.

The original was stitched over one though the directions say you can stitch over 2 if you want to over 28 count but the piece will be bigger. So if I am doing Adia, and of course just over one on it, how many stitches to the inch??

Most of my cross stitch is 18 stitches to the inch, and I find 2 strands gives good coverage with dmc. I'm not sure I'd be able to sneak another strand in. Seems to me 14 stitches to the inch can take 3 strands, but I have a 14 st/" WIP (which I haven't touched in 6 months) which takes 2 strands. I guess I like my loop starts. Dora
