MLI Winter Sampler chart coordinates I need help with!!

I thought Jim would like this subject title.

Okay, so here we go:

From the chart grid, bottom right corner, 53 stitches up, 17 stitches to the left, situated in the center of the over 2 stitch.

Problem: My mind, for some reason is tricking me and I (for the life of me) cannot figure out how to count this out so it stitches up to look like the snowflake it's supposed to be.

Now, it looks as if these are long stitches. If it played out to be 2 over 2 for each stitch I'd not have the same problem. I get lost under the long stitches to fill in the design element of the snowflake.

So, anyone who has done this or who has the chart in their posession, would you do the short stitches first then over those with the long stitches? I really should be able to figure this out myself, but on top of it all I'm in a major Fibro-fog. Those who have them know what I mean.

HELP!
