soliciting advice on light effects

What has been your experience with Light Effects floss? I just saw an adorable fairy pattern and thought about doing it for DN for Christmas. It has lots of beads, but I'd put it in a pillow and substitute knots for the beads. Thought that doing them in Light Effects would be neat - a little glow in the bedroom at night, like real fairies.

How much do they "glow"? Bright or faint? For what period of time - short term and long-term? (i.e., for an hour after lights are out...and for a year after finished stitching, do they still keep a glow or does the ability to glow fade over time?)

(I'm thinking about the white glow-in-the-dark and the fluorescent yellow.)

How is it to stitch with?

thanks, Sue

I can't speak for the DMC thread, but my Kreinik Glow in the Dark did fade out after a couple of years.

And I can't speak to how long the glow lasts (I gave the piece away) but the floss was horrible to stitch with! It frayed everywhere and was very slippery in the needle...

I never used the glow one, but I did use Light Effects for something and didn't like to work with it at all. It is pretty, but I would only use it as one or two strands mixed with regular floss and not all six strands on their own.

I agree that it was horrible to use. Frayed is not the word that I would use, but it was very bad on that line.

I had to use very small lengths >> What has been your experience with Light Effects floss? I just saw an
