Sort of OT: What goes with brown?

As I was getting dressed this morning, I once again wondered what in the world really looks good with brown?

It's just one of those things that maybe I can't see because I'm generally a black person - but I have a pair of dark brown pants I always wind up wearing a white blouse with. Today, I put on my camel (not khaki!) colored cords and a med. lavendar shirt with a white stripe. It looks okay, everyone tells me, but I know all day I'm going to wonder!

So - for the non-colored impaired - what goes with brown and camel?

Several years ago I had a color analysis done. It was the smartest thing I did for my appearance by the way. Check your local library for a book that will tell you what colors go with what colors and what is the best color group for you.

I think I see my problem - I'm a vibrant (I think it's summer) - royal blue, bluer reds, purples and coral look good on me. The only shade of green I can wear is very dark hunter green - and forget yellow altogether!

I really like red with a camel color, and wear it often.

I was going to say red also. Think about a robin. His colors go well together. Black also goes with brown and camel.

Red would probably be # 1 for me too, but I like teal or turquoise almost as much.

This morning my daughter left for school in a cute brown skirt with pink flowers and a pink sweater with little bullion roses - of course she is 11 years old, but brown and pink do go well together. But I think camel and pink might look insipid. Margaret

Mmm, yeah ... chocolate-covered raspberries. ;-D

Seriously, since it's vibrant (think jewel-tones) colors, you'd do best with teal, red, magenta. But what I'd actually suggest is that you get rid of the brown pants. They're kind of limiting, with your coloring. You can't wear a brown blazer to draw the look together.

Just some thoughts.

LOL - I agree with you, but my husband (who is a brown kind of guy) keeps getting them for me and being so pleased with himself!

I almost always end up wearing a bone-colored sweater with my camel cords. I find it hard to find anything else in my closet to work with these pants, though that might have to do with the paisley pattern on them. LOL.

As for my cocoa brown pants, I find them as versatile as black, and often pair them with pink, coral, periwinkle blue, or teal.

HTH.
